Many clients have concerns about the new President and his change of policies on immigration. In January 2017, President Trump signed an Executive Order that directed the Departments of State and Homeland Security to stop the entry of individuals from seven countries in the Middle East and East Africa into the United States. This order also stopped refugee application processing temporarily for 120 days and indefinitely for those of Syrian nationals.
President Trump’s order has been challenged in court, and the order has been stopped temporarily while our courts decide whether it should legally be enforced. No one is certain of what will happen next, and a final resolution on the President’s order may take several years. Until that time, nothing has changed in how the immigration laws work in our country. If anything changes in the immigration policies of our government, we will let you know immediately.
