On March 31, 2020 the U.S. Department of State (DOS) updated its current travel advisories to Level 4 (Do Not Travel) for all countries, urging U.S. citizens and travelers to avoid all international travel as a result of COVID-19. While the DOS has taken steps to repatriate U.S. citizens back to the U.S., due to the travel restrictions, border closures, and mandatory quarantines being implemented by foreign governments, as well as commercial flight cancellations, individuals who do travel outside the U.S. could be forced to remain abroad indefinitely.
